ついに始まったプロレス界最大のお祭りレッスルマニア41。第一夜のオープニングマッチは、グンターとジェイ・ウーソによるWWE世界ヘビー級王座戦です。
Royal Rumbleに勝利してグンターの持つ世界ヘビー級王座への挑戦を表明したジェイ。決戦に向けたストーリーでは劣勢に立たされていましたが、ラスベガスの大観衆の歓声を背に、自身初の世界タイトルの獲得を目指します。
入場は「動」のジェイと「静」のグンターの対比がよく表れていました。全く異なるタイプの2人による激闘を予感させます。

試合はグンターがパワーで攻め立てる展開が続き、ジェイにとっては苦しい時間が続きます。それでも猛攻に耐え抜き、終盤に怒涛の反撃。グンターを徐々に追い詰め、ウーソスプラッシュの連発からチョーク。あのグンターからタップアウトを奪って勝利し、自身初の世界タイトル獲得となりました。
